VertigoMe needs to know roughly where you are to look up your local weather and air pressure. It asks for location only while you are using the app, it stores one location point per day, and you can turn it off at any time.
When you are asked
During setup, the Enable Location page explains why location is needed. Your phone then shows its own prompt.
On iPhone
- Tap Allow While Using App.
- Allow Once works too, but you will be asked again later.
On Android
- Tap While using the app.
- Only this time works too, but you will be asked again later.
If you said no, or want to switch it on later
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left and tap Data and Notifications.
- Open the Environment section.
- On the Location permission row, tap Allow. If your phone no longer shows the prompt, the button says Open Settings and takes you to VertigoMe's settings, where you can allow location.
- Make sure the Location switch is on.
If location stops by itself
Phones sometimes switch off location for apps you have not opened for a while. When that happens, a Location tracking stopped card appears on Home. Tap Turn it back on, or Not now if you would rather leave it.
Checking that it worked
- Tap the Monitor tab.
- Tap the Environment card. You should see today's temperature, pressure and humidity.
Give it a little while after allowing location. Weather is fetched in the background.
What we do not do
- We do not track your movements through the day. One location point is kept per day.
- We do not save your address.
- We do not share your location with anyone. It is used to ask the weather service about your area and to notice big changes in altitude when you travel.
