Why steps matter, and why too few or too many can count

Your step count is a simple measure of how active your day was. VertigoMe watches both ends of the scale.

Two step triggers

A day can also fire if it is far from your own last two weeks.

Why too few steps can matter

A very still day often comes with more screen time, less time outside and sometimes a worse night. For people with vestibular conditions, a long stretch of avoiding movement can also be worth noticing, because gentle activity is often part of recovery. Your clinician can advise what is right for you.

Why too many steps can matter

A very busy day can bring dehydration, missed meals, heat and tiredness, any of which can chain into symptoms.

Changing the thresholds

  1. Tap the gear icon, then Manage Items, then Triggers.
  2. Find Steps low or Steps high (the search box helps).
  3. Tap it and change the threshold.
  4. Tap Save & Recalculate at the bottom.

Where to see your steps

  1. Tap the Monitor tab.
  2. Tap the Physical Health card.
  3. Steps are listed under All Metrics. You can pin them to the card with Customize Physical Health.

Where the number comes from

From your phone or watch through Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, or straight from Garmin, Oura, Polar or WHOOP if you connected one. An iPhone counts steps on its own, so Apple Health alone is enough there. On Android, an app or watch has to write steps into Health Connect.

This is general information only.
