Logging a spin: Paint the picture

This page has a big empty box. You do not have to fill it. You can skip the whole page.

The page is called Paint the picture. Under the title it invites you to type or speak freely so the app can pre-fill your log. A note at the bottom reminds you that the page is optional and you can skip straight to logging by hand.

These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

What this page is for

Tell VertigoMe what happened in plain words, the way you would tell a friend or your doctor. The app reads what you wrote and tries to fill in the pages that follow. That saves a lot of tapping.

What you type here is also kept as the note on this spin.

What kind of detail helps

Useful things to mention:

  1. How it felt: the room spinning, rocking, swaying, unsteady on your feet.
  2. How bad it was, for example "about a 7 out of 10".
  3. What position you were in when it started: lying down, rolling over in bed, looking up, standing up.
  4. Other symptoms: nausea, vomiting, ear fullness, louder tinnitus, a headache.
  5. What you took and what helped: a tablet, lying still with your eyes closed, a dark quiet room.
  6. What might have set it off: poor sleep, a salty meal, stress, a weather change.

One or two sentences is plenty. For example: "Rolled over in bed and the room started spinning, felt sick, lay still with my eyes closed for twenty minutes."

Typing your description

  1. Tap inside the box with the faint example text.
  2. Type what you remember. Spelling does not matter.
  3. Tap outside the box to close the keyboard.

If you prefer to speak, use the Voice button below the box. There is a separate article about it.

Letting VertigoMe fill in the next pages

  1. Once there is text in the box, a Find matches button appears next to Voice. Tap it.
  2. The button shows Analysing… for a few seconds.
  3. A line appears such as "Found 5 matches", followed by a list of items. Each item shows what was found and its type: the spin severity, a headache score, symptoms, triggers, prodromes, medicines, reliefs, activities, locations or missed activities.
  4. Items in a lighter, italic style are suggestions: things the app inferred rather than things you said outright. You can remove any that do not apply.
  5. To remove an item, tap the small cross on it.

The pages that follow will already have these items filled in. You can still change anything there.

If nothing useful is found, you will see a message that no matches were found and you can add items by hand on the next pages. That is fine.

Moving on

Tap Next at the bottom. If you have hidden a page that Paint the picture just filled in, that page is shown for this log anyway, so you can check what was found.

If you want to skip this page

Leave the box empty and tap Next. Nothing is lost. You fill in the rest by hand.
