The Withings Sleep is a thin pad that slides under your mattress. You do not wear anything. VertigoMe does not talk to the pad directly. The Withings Health Mate app writes your sleep to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android), and VertigoMe reads it from there.
The steps are different on iPhone and Android. Find your phone below.
On iPhone
Step 1: Make sure Health Mate sends sleep to Apple Health
- Open Health Mate.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Apps (or Apps & Devices).
- Find Apple Health and tap it, then tap Connect.
- On the permission screen, tap Turn On All, then Allow.
Step 2: Connect VertigoMe to Apple Health
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. A drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Apple Health card at the top and tap Connect. If it already says Connected, skip ahead.
- A short VertigoMe note explains what will be read. Tap Continue.
- Apple's permission sheet slides up. Tap Turn On All, then Allow.
Step 3: Check that it is working
- Sleep one night with the pad under your mattress.
- In the morning, check Health Mate shows last night.
- Open VertigoMe, tap the Monitor tab and scroll to the Sleep card.
It can take an hour or two after you wake up before the data appears.
On Android
Step 1: Make sure Health Connect is on your phone
On newer Android phones Health Connect is built in. On older ones you may need to install it.
- Open the Play Store.
- Search for Health Connect.
- Tap Install if you see it. If you see Open, you already have it.
If the Health Connect card is missing from VertigoMe's Connections screen, Health Connect is not installed or not available on your phone yet.
Step 2: Make sure Health Mate sends sleep to Health Connect
- Open Health Mate.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Apps (or Apps & Devices).
- Find Health Connect and tap it, then tap Connect.
- Tap Allow all, then Allow.
Step 3: Connect VertigoMe to Health Connect
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. A drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Health Connect card at the top and tap Connect. If it already says Connected, skip ahead.
- A short VertigoMe note explains what will be read. Tap Continue.
- The Health Connect permission screen appears. Tap Allow all, then Allow.
Step 4: Check that it is working
- Sleep one night with the pad under your mattress.
- In the morning, check Health Mate shows last night.
- Open VertigoMe, tap the Monitor tab and scroll to the Sleep card.
It can take an hour or two after you wake up before the data appears.
What VertigoMe does with your Withings Sleep data
VertigoMe reads how long you slept, how often you woke and your sleep stages if Health Mate shares them. If Health Mate also shares resting heart rate, that shows in the Physical Health card.
Troubleshooting
"Health Mate shows my sleep, but Health (or Health Connect) does not"
Health Mate has not been allowed to share. On iPhone, open Settings, Apps, Health, Data Access & Devices, Health Mate, and turn all categories on. On Android, open Health Connect, App permissions, Health Mate, and turn on the write permissions.
"The pad did not record last night"
Check that the pad is plugged in and placed under the side of the mattress you sleep on. This part is handled by Withings.
