The Sodium today card on the Home tab adds up the salt in everything VertigoMe knows you ate today. That includes food you log inside VertigoMe and meals that come in from a food app through Apple Health or Health Connect.
Where the number comes from
- Food you log in VertigoMe with the barcode scanner or the food search. Tap the card, or the Diet card on the Monitor tab, to log food this way.
- Meals from a food app such as MyFitnessPal or Cronometer, once you have set the Nutrition source to Apple Health or Health Connect under the gear icon, Data and Notifications.
Each food's sodium is added together for today. The card then shows how much is left before the target, or how far over you are.
The target
The target is a fixed 1,500 mg a day, the level often suggested for Meniere's disease. It is not tailored to you. If your ENT or neurologist has given you a different limit, follow their advice and use the number on the card as a running total.
The milligram total is free. The progress bar and the "left today" line are part of Food Risk Analysis, a Premium feature.
Avoid counting the same meal twice
If you log a meal in your food app, there is no need to log it again in VertigoMe. If you do both, the sodium is counted twice.
Things that can make the number look low
- Your food app shared a "quick add" calorie entry with no nutrients.
- The food app's Sodium switch for Apple Health or Health Connect is off.
- On iPhone, VertigoMe copies food logged today only. A meal you back-date to yesterday in your food app will not move into yesterday's count.
- The Nutrition source badge still says Phone.
If the number still looks wrong, write to help@vertigome.com with a screenshot of the card and the name of your food app.
