Turning off a trigger you do not think applies to you

Not every trigger applies to every person. If you never drink coffee, a daily Caffeine low entry is just noise. You can switch off automatic detection for any automatic trigger.

Turning off Auto-detect does not delete the trigger. It stays in your list, and you can turn it back on whenever you like.

When you might want to

  1. You never drink coffee, tea or cola. Turn off Caffeine high and Caffeine low.
  2. You do not log your food. The Diet triggers may fire on partial data, so you may prefer them off.
  3. You live somewhere flat and never travel to the mountains. Turn off the altitude triggers.
  4. A trigger fires almost every day but you have seen no link with your spins.

Step by step

The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen.
  2. Tap Manage Items, then Triggers.
  3. Open the category card and find the trigger.
  4. Tap the row to open it.
  5. Tap Auto-detect so it shows Off.
  6. Tap Save & Recalculate at the bottom.

The bell is something different

The small bell on a row controls whether that trigger sends you an alert notification when it fires. Bells are off by default. The bell and Auto-detect are independent.

What happens after you turn it off

  1. VertigoMe stops adding that trigger to your days automatically.
  2. When you tap Save & Recalculate, the last 7 days are checked again, so automatic entries for that trigger from the past week are removed and stop counting towards your risk score.
  3. Older automatic entries stay, and anything you logged by hand is never touched. You can still log the trigger yourself.

Turning it back on

Open the row again, switch Auto-detect to On, and tap Save & Recalculate.

A gentle suggestion

If you are new to VertigoMe, leave most triggers on for the first month. A trigger that looks unlikely may turn out to matter once there is more data.
