For some people, spins and vestibular migraine attacks are linked to the menstrual cycle. VertigoMe can use your cycle as one piece of the puzzle. You turn tracking on, enter your most recent period once, and after that VertigoMe predicts the rest.
You only need to come back if a period arrives clearly early or late, or you skip one.
These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
Step 1: Turn on menstruation tracking
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in.
- Tap Data and Notifications.
- Scroll to the Menstruation card.
- Turn the Menstruation switch on.
The Menstruation card now appears on your Monitor tab. While the switch is off, that card is hidden.
Step 2: Open the Menstruation screen
- Tap the Monitor tab.
- Tap the Menstruation card.
Step 3: Enter your last period and cycle length
Scroll to the Cycle Settings card.
- Set Last Period Start Date to the day your most recent period started.
- Set Average Cycle Length. The default is 28 days. The typical range is 21 to 35 days. If you are not sure, leave it at 28.
- Set Average Period Length (days of bleeding). The default is 5.
- Leave Auto-update Average on if you want VertigoMe to recalculate your average from the periods you log.
- Optional: turn on Predict ovulation and set the Ovulation day (the cycle day, where day 1 is the first day of your period). This adds a smaller risk bump around mid-cycle.
- Tap Save Settings.
After that: the app tracks for you
- The top of the Menstruation screen shows your Next Period countdown, your Last Period, the Predicted date and your Cycle length.
- Your predicted period date counts as a trigger in your risk score. A risk curve sets how many points it adds on the days around it.
- When the predicted date arrives, it turns into a real period log on its own, and the next prediction moves forward by one cycle.
- You do not have to log every day of bleeding. VertigoMe only needs to know when each cycle starts.
When to log a period by hand
Log a period yourself if:
- It arrives clearly earlier than expected.
- It is clearly late.
- You skip a month.
- You started or stopped a contraceptive and your cycle has shifted.
To do it, open the Menstruation screen and find the Log a Period card. Pick the start date (or tap Today) and tap Add.
Tuning the risk curve
Further down are the Menstruation Risk Curve and, if you predict ovulation, the Ovulation Risk Curve. Tap a bar to change how many risk points a day adds. Tap Save Weights to keep your changes, or Reset Defaults to go back. This is optional.
Period data from Health Connect
On Android, the Menstruation row in Data and Notifications can take periods from Health Connect. If you pick Health Connect as its source, Android asks for permission to read period data. Logging directly in VertigoMe always works.
Privacy
Your period information stays in your account. To stop tracking, turn the Menstruation switch off again. If you want logged periods removed too, write to help@vertigome.com.
