A trigger is anything that might bring on a spin for you. A salty meal, a poor night of sleep, a drop in air pressure, a stressful day, a sudden head turn. VertigoMe comes with a long list of triggers, and as you log your spins it works out which ones look like yours.
You do not have to set up every trigger by hand. A few taps here help it learn faster.
Where to find your trigger settings
These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left corner. The Settings drawer slides in.
- Tap Manage Items.
- Tap Triggers.
The Manage Triggers screen opens. Your triggers are grouped into category cards such as Body, Cognitive, Diet, Environment, Physical, Sensory and Sleep. Tap a card's header to open or close it. There is a search box at the top.
What you can do here
- Star a trigger to make it a favourite. A filled star means favourite. Favourites appear first when you log.
- Delete a trigger with the trash icon. A box asks Remove item? and reminds you that past logged entries are not affected. Tap Delete to confirm.
- Tap a row to open it. Inside you can set its Prediction weight (None, Low, Mild or High), change its Category, and for automatic triggers switch Auto-detect on or off and change the number it fires at.
- Add your own trigger with the + on a category card.
There is no rename. To change a name, delete the trigger and add a new one.
Star, bell and delete changes apply straight away. Changes to prediction weights, categories, auto-detect and thresholds wait until you tap Save & Recalculate at the bottom. That button only appears when you have unsaved changes.
Automatic triggers from your data
Many triggers fire on their own. VertigoMe watches things like sleep, heart rate variability and stress (from your phone or wearable), air pressure and humidity (from your location) and nutrients such as sodium and caffeine (from your food log). When one goes outside your normal range, the trigger fires and can show up in the Top contributors card on the Home screen.
A note on patience
The list will not mean much on day one. Give it a few weeks of logging. After that the picture sharpens, and you can come back to tidy up.
