The Withings ScanWatch is a hybrid watch that tracks your sleep, heart rate and blood oxygen. The same steps work for other Withings wearables such as the Steel HR, and for Withings scales and blood pressure monitors, which VertigoMe can also read.
VertigoMe does not talk to these devices directly. Your device's app sends data to Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, and VertigoMe reads it from there.
On iPhone
Step 1: Make sure the app sends data to Apple Health
- Open Withings Health Mate.
- Tap your profile, then Apps.
- Tap Apple Health, then Connect.
- Tap Turn On All, then Allow.
Step 2: Connect Apple Health in VertigoMe
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. A drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Apple Health card at the top and tap Connect. If it already says Connected, skip ahead.
- A short VertigoMe note explains what will be read. Tap Continue.
- Apple's permission sheet slides up. Tap Turn On All, then Allow.
On Android
Step 1: Make sure Health Connect is on your phone
On newer Android phones Health Connect is built in. On older ones you may need to install it.
- Open the Play Store.
- Search for Health Connect.
- Tap Install if you see it. If you see Open, you already have it.
If the Health Connect card is missing from VertigoMe's Connections screen, Health Connect is not installed or not available on your phone yet.
Step 2: Make sure the app sends data to Health Connect
- Open Withings Health Mate.
- Tap your profile, then Apps.
- Tap Health Connect, then Connect.
- Tap Allow all.
Step 3: Connect Health Connect in VertigoMe
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. A drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Health Connect card at the top and tap Connect. If it already says Connected, skip ahead.
- A short VertigoMe note explains what will be read. Tap Continue.
- The Health Connect permission screen appears. Tap Allow all, then Allow.
Check that it is working
Open the Monitor tab and look at the Sleep and Physical Health cards. On iPhone, VertigoMe reads Apple Health from the day you connect (sleep from the last week). On Android, it looks back over the last 14 days the first time.
Troubleshooting
"Some metrics are missing"
Some of Withings' more advanced readings stay inside Health Mate. VertigoMe reads the standard categories: sleep, heart rate, HRV, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, body temperature, steps, weight, body fat and blood pressure.
