A Polar watch tracks your sleep, heart rate, recovery and training load. VertigoMe can read that and use it to look for patterns around your spins.
Polar connects directly to VertigoMe. There is no Apple Health or Health Connect bridge in between. You sign in to your Polar Flow account once, and your data then flows in on its own. This works the same way on iPhone and on Android.
Step 1: Make sure your device is syncing
- Open the Polar Flow app on your phone.
- Check that today's data (or last night's sleep) is there.
- If not, bring the device close to your phone and let the app sync.
Step 2: Connect Polar in VertigoMe
- Open VertigoMe.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. A drawer slides in from the left.
- Tap Connections.
- Find the Polar card (it shows the Polar logo) and tap Connect.
- A short VertigoMe note, Connect Polar?, explains what will be read. Tap Continue.
- A Polar sign-in page opens. On iPhone, your phone may first ask whether VertigoMe may use the Polar website to sign in. Tap Continue.
- Sign in with your Polar Flow email and password.
- Allow VertigoMe to read your data.
You are taken back to VertigoMe and the button now reads Connected.
Step 3: Wait a little while
The first time you connect, VertigoMe asks Polar for about the last four weeks (28 days) of data. Make sure your device has synced with Polar Flow first, so those weeks are complete.
To check it is working, open the Monitor tab and look at the Sleep and Physical Health cards.
What comes through
Sleep (duration, stages, score, timing and disturbances), recovery, resting heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, steps, strain and time in high heart rate zones. Polar does not share a stress score, so VertigoMe works out a stress estimate from your HRV and resting heart rate.
When you connect Polar, VertigoMe makes it the source for the metrics it supports, including your sleep. If you use more than one device, you can change the source for each metric. See Choosing which device gives VertigoMe each piece of data.
Troubleshooting
"Connected but no data"
- Open Polar Flow and let it sync.
- Open VertigoMe and go to the Monitor tab. Pull down to refresh.
- Overnight data can take an hour or two after you wake up.
If it is still empty after a few hours, disconnect and connect again (see below).
"I don't remember my Polar password"
Use the Forgot password? link on Polar's sign-in page. Once you can sign in to Polar Flow, come back to VertigoMe and tap Connect again.
"I want to disconnect"
Tap the Connected button on the Polar card. A window asks Disconnect Polar?. Tap Disconnect. Metrics that came from Polar move to the next source that can provide them, such as Apple Health or Health Connect. To fully remove VertigoMe's access, you can also revoke it in your Polar Flow account settings.
