Filling in your AI profile, and why it helps

During setup there is a part called AI Personalisation. It looks long, but you can skip any question. This article walks you through it so you know what to expect.

In plain words: it is a set of questions about your spins. How often they come, how long they last, what tends to bring them on, how you sleep. VertigoMe uses your answers to set up the app for you, so your lists, triggers and risk gauge already fit you on day one.

You can answer everything, some of it, or nothing. Nothing here is permanent.

These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

Reaching the AI setup

It runs during your first setup, straight after you choose what data to collect. If you chose Go to the app at the start, it is skipped for now.

To run it later, tap the gear icon at the top left, tap Profile, then tap Redo Onboarding. Your data is left untouched.

Page 1: Tell us about your spins

You can describe your spins in your own words. Pick whichever is easiest:

Then tap Find matches & continue. The app fills in later answers from what you said and tells you how many it filled in. You can change any of them. If you would rather answer everything yourself, tap OR Continue and answer manually.

If the microphone does nothing, you may have skipped the microphone permission. You can type instead.

The question pages

Each page has Next at the bottom, plus Back and Skip at the top. Skip simply moves on to the next page.

  1. About you & your spins. Age range, gender, how often spins come, how long they last, how long you have had vertigo, whether things are getting better or worse, and whether you notice warning signs.
  2. Which type of vestibular condition? Pick all that apply. See Choosing your vestibular subtype.
  3. Your episode pattern. How long a spin usually lasts and how long recovery takes.
  4. Sleep. How long and how well you sleep, and whether poor or short sleep brings on a spin.
  5. Stress & Screen. Stress, changes in stress, and screen time.
  6. Diet & Substances. Caffeine, alcohol, certain foods and additives, eating patterns such as salty food, and water.
  7. Weather, Environment & Physical. Pressure changes and other weather, lights, smells, noise, visual motion, and physical factors such as illness or motion sickness.
  8. Exercise & Hormones. Exercise and, if it applies, your menstrual cycle and contraception. Leave anything that does not apply blank.
  9. Warning Signs. Physical, mood and sensory changes you notice before a spin, with how sure you are.

Your lists

Next come pages of tiles, one per list: Your triggers, Warning signs you log, Symptoms, After the spin, Places, Medicines, Reliefs, Activities and Activities you miss.

Items marked From what you told us come from your answers. Items under ✦ Suggested for your profile are things worth watching. Tap to add or remove. You can change all of these later from Manage Items in the Settings menu.

Anything else?

A free-text page for anything that did not fit elsewhere. Then the button says Analyse & configure. Tap it.

Personalising your app

A screen says Personalising your app… for a few moments. On a slow connection this can take up to a minute. If it cannot finish, the app uses standard settings and you can try again later.

Your personalised setup

You see what the AI found, how it set up your risk gauge, and the triggers, warning signs, symptoms, medicines and reliefs it chose.

  1. Tap any gauge value to change it. You can fine-tune these later under Risk Model in the Settings menu.
  2. There is an optional card, Get a baseline: DHI, five minutes. It is a 25-question questionnaire about how dizziness affects your life. You can also do it later from Profile.
  3. Tap Apply configuration to save.

The next screen lets you pick AI companions. That has its own article.

Why it is worth doing

  1. Your risk gauge starts closer to right. It is set up around the triggers that matter to you.
  2. Your lists are ready. When you first open the Log tab, your usual triggers, medicines and reliefs are already there.
  3. Insights talk about your life. Tips and patterns mention things you actually do.

If it feels like too much today, tap Skip on each page, or come back later through Profile and Redo Onboarding.
