This guide walks you through a guided exercise from start to finish. It works the same on iPhone and Android.
Step 1: Open the exercises
- Open the Home screen.
- Tap Exercises. The Exercises screen opens with Your exercises.
- Tap the exercise you want, for example Epley maneuver.
Step 2: Set it up
The start screen depends on the exercise.
- Which ear are you treating? For the Epley, Semont and BBQ roll maneuvers, tap Left ear or Right ear. Use the ear your clinician identified. If you are not sure, ask first.
- Rounds: for Brandt-Daroff (1, 3 or 5 rounds) and habituation (3, 5 or 8 rounds), pick how many you want to do.
- Before you start: read the short checklist. It tells you how to hold the phone, what you need (such as a pillow or a wall to hold) and when not to do the exercise.
The checklist changes with the exercise and the ear you pick, so read it each time you change something.
Step 3: Choose voice on or off
Under the start button there is a Voice on / Voice off switch. With voice on, the coach reads out each move, so you do not need to look at the screen. Turn your phone's volume up.
Step 4: Start
Tap Start guided run. The screen stays awake while the exercise runs.
During the run:
- A large word at the top tells you the move, such as LIE BACK or SIT UP.
- A short animation shows the movement, and the coach explains it.
- For moves the phone can measure, the screen shows your angle and the background changes colour as you get close to the right position. The phone vibrates and a hold timer runs while you stay there.
- If you are in position but the coach has not noticed, tap I'm in position to start the hold.
- Back and Next let you repeat or skip a step at any time.
- Tap STOP if you need to stop. The coach tells you to stay where you are and breathe, and to sit up slowly once the spinning settles.
Step 5: When it is done
You see Round complete. The session is already saved in your log.
- Under HOW HELPFUL WAS THIS?, tap None, Low, Mild or High.
- For the repositioning maneuvers, if you are still spinning you can tap Still spinning — go again, up to three rounds in one sitting. For the other exercises, tap Run it again to repeat.
- Tap Done to finish.
Gaze stabilization
The gaze trainer works a little differently. You sit with the phone at arm's length, at eye height, and keep your eyes on a letter while your head turns in time with ticks. Tap Start to begin. See "Gaze stabilization training" for the details.
These are educational guides and do not replace medical advice. Do the exercises your clinician recommended, and stop if you get severe or unusual symptoms.
