How to log a prodrome (warning sign)

A prodrome is an early warning sign that a spin may be coming. Common ones are an ear that feels full, tinnitus getting louder, feeling slightly off-balance, being bothered by motion, head pressure, brain fog or tiredness. If you are not sure, log it anyway.

These steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

The one-tap way, from Home

Tap Prodrome in the Quick log row on Home. Pick a favourite, or let it save a general warning sign with the time set to now.

The detailed way, from the Log tab

  1. Tap the Log tab.
  2. In Quick Log, tap the Prodrome card. A screen titled Quick Prodrome opens.
  3. Under Which one?, tap the sign that fits. One at a time here. To log a second, save the first and come back.
  4. Under When did this happen? the time is now. Tap to change. A rough time is fine.
  5. Add a note in Notes if you like.
  6. Tap Log Prodrome.

Why it is worth it

Warning signs count towards your risk score, because when you are in one, a spin may already be on its way. If a spin follows, the app can learn which signs tend to come before yours, and Insights can show them.

If your sign is not in the list

Tap the gear icon, then Manage Items, then Prodromes, and add it.

Prodrome, symptom or trigger?

  1. A trigger is something that may have caused the spin, such as a salty meal.
  2. A prodrome is a warning sign that comes before the spin, such as ear fullness.
  3. A symptom is what you feel during the spin, such as nausea.

If you are not sure, pick the one that feels closest. You can change it later in the Journal.
