Using the severity slider (0 to 10)

Severity is a number from 0 to 10 for how bad a spin was. There is no perfect number. Your honest best guess is what the app needs. Over many spins, your numbers show good days, bad days and what helps.

Where it is

Reading the slider

  1. On the right is a big number with / 10 next to it. It starts at 5.
  2. Below is the slider.
  3. Under it are None on the left and Severe on the right.

Picking your number

  1. Put your finger on the dot and slide it left or right. The number changes as you go.
  2. Or tap a spot on the bar and the dot jumps there.
  3. Lift your finger when the number matches how it felt.

A rough guide for spins

  1. 1 to 2: a slight sway or wobble. You can carry on with what you are doing.
  2. 3 to 4: clear dizziness. You slow down, hold on to things, avoid quick head turns.
  3. 5 to 6: you need to stop and sit. Reading or walking is hard. Some nausea.
  4. 7 to 8: you need to lie down and keep still. Strong nausea, maybe vomiting.
  5. 9 to 10: you cannot move without the world spinning violently. Repeated vomiting. The worst you have known.

This is only a guide. What matters is being consistent with yourself.

If it changed during the spin

In the full guide, tap + Add entry on the Spin step for a new entry with its own time and severity. The highest one is used as the spin's peak severity.

Changing it later

Open the Journal, tap the ⋯ menu on the spin, tap Edit, change the slider and tap Update spin log on Review.

A note on honesty

A real 4 is more useful than a polite 7. The app is helped most by numbers that are true for you.
