Find matches picked up something wrong

When you describe your spin on the Paint the picture step and tap Find matches, VertigoMe tries to pick out the details (how bad it was, symptoms, triggers, medicines and so on) and shows them as a list of matches. Sometimes it picks the wrong thing or guesses something you did not mean. That is normal, and each one takes a second to fix.

The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

Step 1: Remove a wrong match with the ×

  1. Look at the list under "Found ... matches — added to your log".
  2. Each match shows what the app picked out, with its type (for example Trigger or Symptom) on the right.
  3. If one is wrong, tap the × on its right. It disappears.

Anything you leave stays on the log.

Step 2: Watch for suggestions

Matches in italic with the word suggested are guesses the app made from your wording. You did not name them outright. Remove any that do not apply.

Step 3: Set the real values in the next steps

Paint the picture only gives you a head start. The steps after it let you set each detail properly. For example, the Spin step is where you set how bad the spin was, and the Headache step covers head pain.

  1. Tap Next to move on.
  2. Go through each step and tap to add or remove items.
  3. By the time you reach Review, the log shows what you actually felt.

Step 4: Speak or type more plainly

Short, clear sentences give better matches. For example: "Spin started at nine. Severity six. Room spinning. Felt sick. Took my usual tablet."

You can type instead of speaking. Many people find typing more accurate, especially somewhere noisy.

Step 5: Skip it entirely

Paint the picture is optional. Leave the box empty, tap Next, and fill in each step by hand. The log you save is exactly what you entered.

Why does it miss things?

The matching works against your own lists of symptoms, triggers, medicines and reliefs. If you mention something that is not on your lists, there is nothing to match it to. Add it through Manage Items (gear icon, top-left) and it will be picked up next time.
