The risk score or a Monitor tile shows a dash, what do I do?

A dash (-) means VertigoMe does not have that reading yet. It does not mean zero. Once the data arrives, the dash turns into a number.

It helps to know what feeds what:

So a dash nearly always means one of two things: there is nothing to score yet, or a data source has not delivered today.

The steps are the same on iPhone and Android.

Step 1: Is your account new?

If you signed up in the last day or two and have not logged a spin, trigger or prodrome yet, that is almost certainly why.

Start logging. The Quick log strip on Home logs a trigger or prodrome in one tap. Connecting your data sources (Step 2) also helps, because detected triggers then start to count.

Step 2: Have you connected a data source?

The Monitor cards are fed by your sleep, heart, activity and weather data. With nothing connected, those tiles stay as dashes.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-left, then Connections.
  2. Check that at least one card says Connected: Apple Health (iPhone), Health Connect (Android), WHOOP, Oura, Polar or Garmin.
  3. If none do, tap Connect on one and follow the steps.

For weather, location must be on: gear icon, Data and Notifications, Environment, Location.

Step 3: Did your data sync today?

  1. Open the app that records your data (Oura, WHOOP, Garmin Connect, Apple Health and so on).
  2. Pull down to refresh and check today's numbers are there.
  3. If they are not, fix that first. Our troubleshooting guide for that device can help.

Step 4: Refresh the Monitor tab

  1. Open the Monitor tab.
  2. Put your finger near the top of the screen, slide it down a few centimetres and let go.
  3. Wait about ten seconds while the cards reload.

This works the same way on iPhone and Android.

Step 5: Check your internet

Open your web browser or email. If nothing loads, connect to Wi-Fi or move somewhere with signal, then refresh the Monitor tab again.

Step 6: Force-close VertigoMe

On iPhone

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle.
  2. Find the VertigoMe card and swipe it up off the screen.
  3. Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.

On Android

  1. Tap the square button at the bottom (or swipe up and hold).
  2. Find VertigoMe and swipe it away.
  3. Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.

Step 7: Sign out and back in

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in from the left.
  3. Tap Logout.
  4. Sign back in the same way you signed up (email, Apple, Google or Facebook).

Step 8: Reinstall VertigoMe

Your spins and settings are stored in your VertigoMe account, so deleting the app does not delete them.

  1. Press and hold the VertigoMe icon.
  2. Tap Delete app (iPhone) or Uninstall (Android).
  3. Open the App Store or Google Play, search for VertigoMe and install it again.
  4. Sign in with the same account you used before.

Why does VertigoMe show a dash?

We would rather show a dash than a number we cannot back up. The risk score only counts triggers and prodromes that were really logged or detected, and the tiles only show readings that really arrived.
