My sleep is not showing up, what do I do?

The simplest fix is to wait until later in the day. Most sleep trackers (watch, ring or phone) only finish working out last night's sleep an hour or two after you wake up. If you check VertigoMe straight after breakfast, it may not be there yet.

If you have waited until lunchtime and it is still missing, work through the steps below.

The steps work on iPhone and Android. We point out where they differ.

Step 1: Wait until lunchtime

Try again around noon. If the sleep shows up then, there is nothing to fix.

Step 2: Check the sleep is in the source app

Open whichever app records your sleep:

If the sleep is not in the source app, VertigoMe has nothing to read.

On Android, VertigoMe can also estimate sleep from your phone alone, with no wearable. That uses the Phone source and needs phone usage access. If the Phone usage access row in the Cognitive section of Data and Notifications does not say Granted, tap it and allow access.

Step 3: Check which source VertigoMe uses for sleep

Only one source feeds each sleep metric at a time. If VertigoMe reads sleep from your watch and the watch did not record last night, you will see nothing.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-left.
  2. Tap Data and Notifications.
  3. Scroll to the Sleep section.
  4. Look at the source badge on each row, for example Sleep duration. Is it the device that actually recorded last night?
  5. If not, tap the badge and pick the right one in the Choose source box.

Step 4: Refresh the Monitor tab

  1. Open the Monitor tab.
  2. Put your finger near the top of the screen, slide it down a few centimetres and let go.
  3. Wait about ten seconds while the cards reload.

This works the same way on iPhone and Android.

Step 5: Reconnect the source

If your sleep comes from WHOOP, Oura, Garmin or Polar:

  1. Tap the gear icon, then Connections.
  2. Find the card for your sleep source.
  3. If the button says "Connect", tap it, tap Continue and sign in again.
  4. If the button says "Connected", tap it, tap Disconnect, then tap Connect and sign in again.

If your sleep comes through Apple Health or Health Connect:

On iPhone

  1. Open the Health app and tap your profile picture in the top-right.
  2. Under Privacy, tap Apps, then VertigoMe.
  3. Make sure Sleep is switched on.

On Android

  1. Open Health Connect (or Settings, then search for "Health Connect").
  2. Tap App permissions, then VertigoMe.
  3. Make sure Sleep is allowed.

Step 6: Check which day the sleep is under

A night's sleep is filed under the day you woke up. If you slept from 11pm Monday to 7am Tuesday, it shows on Tuesday. To look at earlier nights, tap the Sleep card on the Monitor tab.

Step 7: Force-close VertigoMe

On iPhone

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle.
  2. Find the VertigoMe card and swipe it up off the screen.
  3. Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.

On Android

  1. Tap the square button at the bottom (or swipe up and hold).
  2. Find VertigoMe and swipe it away.
  3. Tap the VertigoMe icon to open it again.

Step 8: Check you wore the device

If you took your watch off to charge, or your ring came off in the night, the device could not record sleep.

Step 9: Sign out and back in

  1. Open VertigoMe.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-left of the screen. The Settings drawer slides in from the left.
  3. Tap Logout.
  4. Sign back in the same way you signed up (email, Apple, Google or Facebook).

Step 10: Reinstall VertigoMe

Your spins and settings are stored in your VertigoMe account, so deleting the app does not delete them.

  1. Press and hold the VertigoMe icon.
  2. Tap Delete app (iPhone) or Uninstall (Android).
  3. Open the App Store or Google Play, search for VertigoMe and install it again.
  4. Sign in with the same account you used before.
  5. Reconnect your sleep source.
